7 Ways to Style a Bouclé Sofa Without It Looking Dated

Bouclé is everywhere — but not all bouclé styling is equal. Our lead designer shares the layering and contrast techniques that make the difference between dated and timeless.
1. Contrast softness with structure
Bouclé begs for a sparring partner. Pair the Harmony Sofa with a sharp-lined oak console or a blackened-steel floor lamp so the softness reads as intentional, not sleepy.
2. Layer two neutrals, never one
An all-cream room flattens bouclé. Work ivory against stone, oatmeal and warm grey — three tones minimum — so the loops catch light differently across the room.
3. Add one dark anchor
A walnut side table, a matte-black pendant, a deep green cushion. Dark notes stop bouclé rooms from floating away and give the eye somewhere to land.
4. Mind the pile direction
Vacuum with an upholstery head in one direction monthly and rotate loose cushions weekly. Ten minutes of care keeps the texture even for years.
5. Choose legs you can see
Raised oak legs lift the silhouette and let light pass underneath — the difference between a cloud and a block. The Harmony frame sits 12 cm off the floor for exactly this reason.
Shop the look: the Harmony Bouclé Sofa, Oak Console Sideboard and Japandi Brass Pendant were made to sit together.
